Description
The MPC480 delivers the ultimate user experience. Highly configurable, this edge router enables operators to take full advantage of converged Ethernet and IP/MPLS networks for business and residential service delivery, and private (VPN) networking.
The MPC480 can operate in many roles; as a high-performance IP router, as a Provider Edge router in IP/MPLS networks for layer2 and layer3 VPN services, and as a Service Router/BNG. The small form factor and flexible licensing structure allows a distributed Service Router architecture to support the increasing demand for Over the Top (OTT) services in modern broadband networks and to enable network operators to make better designs and reach better scalability by pushing intelligence further out into the network.
- Flexible pay-as-you-grow and service-centric licensing model
- Versatile L2/L3 VPN and Routing
- BNG with Effective Subscriber Management
- Up to 100Gbit/s throughput
- Edge Router platform for IP/MPLS networks
- Slim-form factor 4RU chassis with front-to-back cooling
- Redundant hot-swappable power and line-cards
Lower CAPEX
MPC480 is built for cost efficient Ethernet technology.
Ethernet and IP is the foundation for all new networks and avoiding legacy technology means a better architecture and less complexity to reduce the overall cost. The MPC480 is built with network convergence in mind, using a flexible network processor with software defined features for service delivery.
The MPC480 is a stepping stone towards network function virtualization (NFV). Cost efficient hardware allows generic deployment and enables you to build the network more efficiently and makes the network more scalable. Software enabled network functions for service delivery are licensed when, and where, you need to deliver services, thereby providing a pay-as-you-grow model. Your investments match your revenue gain which also reduces business risk. In comparison with on the market, the MPC480 has an entry price lower than the competition even as the service delivery
world-class-features
Operating a network is a challenge and requires technical skill. The MPC480 operating system, iBOS, uses an industry standard CLI to allow network engineers and other technical staff to quickly adapt to working with the platform and quickly leveraging current skills and knowledge. In addition, the iBOS operating system offers additional tools to facilitate network operations, such as the RPM quality measurement tool for multicast TV and remote mirroring capabilities to support legal intercept or advanced troubleshooting.
Using the RPM feature, the MPC480 can monitor the quality of multicast TV in the network and provides realtime information about the customer experience. This enables network engineers to proactively monitor service quality and to quickly pinpoint any issues in the network. Faster troubleshooting and resolution benefits the customer.
In addition to the CLI, iBOS also includes the ScriBOS™ script language (based on Python). Using ScriBOS, the platform can be adapted to many operational environments and interacts with OSS systems in ways no other router on the market can. With NetConf on the near-term roadmap, the MPC480 provides world-class features to integrate, automate, operate and support network troubleshooting.
Versatile deployment
The feature sets of iBOS and the MPC480 enable deployment in many roles. The MPC480 can provide business and residential services, serve as a native IP or IP/MPLS router, or perform Ethernet switching.
In the Provider Edge (PE) role, the MPC480 can enable layer3 VPNs as well as layer2 point-to-point (E-Line) connections across a MPLS backbone.
This versatility enables service providers to enter the business service domain in order to meet requirements from multi-branch customers, or to backhaul residential and mobile traffic across the network.
As a Service Router/BNG, the MPC480 can perform rate-limiting and control services for thousands of customers connected by a vast variety of technologies, such as point-to-point Ethernet, GPON, xDSL, Cable-TV networks, wireless solutions and more.
Supporting Customer-VLAN topologies and multiple services per customer, the MPC480 is perfect to meet increasing demands for Over the Top services when broadband customers subscribe to even faster services.
